The National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum

Chicago here I come!

I have arrived at my last destination, Chicago. The plans for today is already made up. I will be going to the National Vietnam Veterans art museum to pay my respects to those who lost their life in the Vietnam war.

This time I decided not to go with a guide and a group through the museum because of what happened last time. So this time I walked around and looked at all the amazing things that was used in the war and that still amazingly well preserved. An interesting fact about museums, when I think about it. The USA have much more museums than Sweden does. It is only natural because the US is so much of a bigger country than Sweden is and they have served much more in war than we have.

This blog entrie will be a short one because im longing to go home and meet my family. They have been writing to me allot since I left. Just because I´m longing to get home does not mean that I will miss the US. It have been an amazing trip and I would gladly do it again.

The day ended with me sitting in a restaurant eating with a friend, a friend that was with me on the trip from Los Angeles to Flagstaff. Me and Zac will surely miss each other. Zac had gone from Flaggstaf to Chicago just to say goodbye to me and that ment allot to me. As it started to get dark we said our last farwell and the next thing I knew it I was on a plane on my way home to Sweden, the country that I had missed allot. My family is waiting for me at the airport and is eagerly waiting to hug me.

It has been a pleasure to write to you all!

Art is art

Hello everyone!

The road have led me to my next destination. Today I will be staying in St Louis. I heard that St Louis have some beautiful art that I really want to check out.

I arrive in St Louis when the clock strikes 2 in the afternoon. I have made small savings for my last trip but today I feel like going to a restaurant that serves buffet because I´m quite hungry after the long trip on the road.

The sun is shining when I arrive at the restaurant and as I walk in to the restaurant two policemen walk past me with a man between them. The man doesn´t seem to struggle at all. One of the policemen looks at me because I look interested and wonder what I´m thinking. I said that the man doesn´t seem to struggle at all. The police laugh a bit and asks me if I was joking. We used our tazer and looked at me as if that was very obvious. The police in America seem to be more violent than the police in Sweden. In Sweden the police try to talk to the person they want to arrest and see if he/she is willing to go without a struggle. But as I see it, the police in America just "goes for it".

After I left the restaurant I checked in at a hotel that was a 3 star hotel, wich was perfect for me because I needed to save some of the money for my last trip to Chicago. The room was very well decorated and it even had a toilet and shower in the same apartment. Not that I´m not used to it but it felt like I lived somewhere now. As you probably remembered I slept in my car the last time.

I decided to check out the art in St Louis that was placed out all over the parks in the city. When I arrived there was a group of tourist that also was there to see the art. After about 10 minutes our guide arrived and she told us her name and then we started to walk through the park. I must tell you that this art was different from any art I had seen before. It didn´t really represent anything (what art does these days?) but something about it made it beautiful and exciting to watch. Art is an inspiring thing all over the world and we have different taste in art but one thing that you can say about art all over the world is that there is always a group of people that cant imagine thing in their head. Why do I bring this up? There was this really annoying couple that always said "what is that suposed to look like?". I was so irritated by this so I just said "IT IS ART" and then walked away. I know it wasn´t nice to scream that out but things happens.

I headed back to the nice cosy hotelroom and slept through the night to wake up with breakfast beside my bed. Time to get some rest before my last trip to Chicago, see you there!
